For a serial port (com1) you can use GP0,GP1 or GP44,GP45, com2 is allocated to the console using gp8,gp9

Hi

A small observation, RP2350 Pin VREG_FB should be connected to ground if you supply your own vCore according to the RP2350 datasheet (Fig21 Page 452) You have it disconnected.

Not sure of the implications (probably higher power consumption) but obviously not that serious if the board is working

Well the boards turned up this morning

So I got on and downloaded V3 from Peters site and loaded it up, hooked up my mouse, keyboard and the HDMI and tested out the audio and now got stairway to heaven playing   so the audio works nice.

But no COM port assigned for the serial output and the C USB is connected providing power but nothing when I start MCCC and looking in device manager.

Later today I can get 2 boards in the post now Panky and expo if you still want the boards could you please PM your address's.

Regards Bryan

I assume you have done "OPTION RESET PICO COMPUTER 3".
Does OPTION LIST or LIST PINS show the console using GP8 & GP9 ?

If either of them show the console using GP8 & GP9 perhaps the CH340 (U7) or USB-C socket isn't soldered correctly. Check with a magnifying glass.

Is your USB-C cable a data cable or power only?

Perhaps load and configure the other boards to see if it is just that one.

Ok I loaded V3 on all 5 boards and tried a different USB cable which fixed the problem so each board did show the keyboard and mouse and each one was audio tested and all worked

So now on packing them up for sending out which I will do in the morning where hopefully Panky and expo will reply with thier address's.

Regards Bryan

Ok got the boards off to Panky Geoff and Lyle this morning and sent them express post so the packages didn't get bogged down in Aussie snail mail as it should be called

So finally got some time to have a play and got tera term connected but sadly can't get MCCC to connect.

I found I had to change the baud rate to get tera term to connect properly but trying the same in MCCC didn't work.

MMCC won't connect while Tera Term is connected to the same com port.
Either disconnect Tera Term (Alt-I) or close it then try to connect in MMCC again.

Bryan your PM mailbox is full.
I won't be home to receive your package for a couple of weeks, so no rush.
I can pay as soon as you send the details.

I've just done a good search on the forum for the .stl file for making the case for this PICO Computer 3 and only could find the end plates.

Now Gerry did supply a very well made enclosure for the 2350A board which I think would suit the newer board.

My daughters boyfriend has said if I can supply the .stl file he will make it for me.

Hi Bryan,
This was the STL file I used. This works for the original version where you solder a
Pico2 onto the circuit board. However, I seem to remember Peter saying the later version with everything onboard and no separate Pico2 needed and the Pico Computer 3 are slightly different in their connector layout.
The STL file here

Thanks for that Gerry now I just checked the pico 3 board in the enclosure and the output pins has more pins so the cutout needs to be wider also the HDMI socket is further right. Now the power, usb and reset button all look in the right place. With the USB hub side it does look like it's a match.

Now with the holes in the enclosure did you cut them out or are they in the code.?

Regards Bryan

Edit: I just texted the thingiverse thing number to my daughter and Sam said he will have a look tonight, now I have also asked to change the holes to suit the pico 3  layout so stay tuned and hopefully I can release the updated stl file to suit this new board.

As I do not yet have my Picomputer 3 board I can't check for sure but it looks close to the previous HDMIUSB reference design with the RP2350B chip on board. The updated STL files for the endplates worked great for it and I am hoping still fit the Picocomputer 3 version. Here is the link.

Went over and helped the kids out this morning and one should of seen Sam's face when I told him about this PICO 3 Computer

Anyway as he is making the case for mine I let him have that spare one for him and his dad to play with this python code.

So I pointed Sam to this forum, Geoff's site to get the manual and MMEdit also Peter's github site where he was blown away with all the info. Now when I told him most of the old arcade games are ported over he did say after making the new cases he will get onto learning.

Now with the case mod's to suit the PICO 3 I have asked him to upload the mod to thingverse and provide the link on this forum.

Sometimes (I haven't detected a pattern) when I run FM and select a BASIC program to edit, or run, returning to FM causes the screen to clear, some registers to flash at the bottom of the screen, (too fast to read properly) and the system to reboot. This happens on all four of my Pico Computer 3s. I have performed OPTION RESET PICO COMPUTER 3 and added OPTION CASE UPPER. I'm running MMBasic 6.03.00 release version.

Edit: Now if a member could give me the part numbers for the missing PSRam chip and the wifi chip then I can get on and order a bunch so all the boards can have those missing parts.
