Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I have uploaded V5.4.2 to Geoff's website.

https://geoffg.net/mmedit.html

The Zoom feature seems to cause problems for some Windows users.
I have disabled it for Windows users and rely on the Windows built-in scale option as previously.

I am reasonable confident that the problems with the file manager have been fixed apart from the RPi version.
The RPi version has the file manager disabled due to problems I have yet to resolve.
There are a few places where I hope to speed up the response but that is for another time.

You can now "abort" a file transfer again. It may leave a bit of garbage on the terminal window but otherwise abort cleanly.

When transferring from the 'mite to the PC, the transfer is stored in a temporary file and only after a successful transfer is it renamed, overwriting any file of the same name. This prevents a failed transfer from deleting an otherwise good file.

Transferring to the 'mite will still overwrite any existing file of the same name. (I didn't want to run into any "out-of-memory" problems)

The Linux versions use the default browser for viewing the help files. This saves the problem with finding the correct support files for the internal browser.
There is a setting in the inf file if you want to change that.

I hope I have fixed or found a way around most of the outstanding bugs.

Sorry Jim,

Version 542:
When transferring  large files (10Mbyte) from PC to Pico (V60300) drive B to PC I get "no response found" error messages at irregular locations.
Some times at low block numbers (800 or 3500), sometimes at almost makes it to the end (89000 blocks). On the LCD display it reads "too many errors".

I also see dollar signs on the MMCC terminal.

MMCC 537 works fine.

This is linux Ubuntu 20.04 on a 2GHz I5 laptop. If you value, I can try to image the PC to Ubuntu 24.04, and see if that improves. I think MMCC uses Xmodem. On the A: drive of pico I get messages "Ymodem not supported". Is that correct ?

Volhout

P.S. is it possible to use MMCC 537 in combination with MMEdit 542 ? To benefit from the new MMEdit, but keep the reliable MMCC.
