Peter when I first started out with micro-python I had a user manual where it gave the link to the firmware in the pdf and had all the info for mips, now I did read in that section one could setup a GPS using mips but silly me when a new manual came out as the filename was the same I clicked replace file  and lost that pdf.Now I have been researching every version on your github but do think I can find that pdf again so a link to that pdf would be great  Regards Bryan |

Peter looking at that link to V0.16 it says TinyUSB is at 0.20 and with this build only USB host mode, now when that 10.1" IPS screen turns up the touch screen works via a microUSB port and with earlier attempts getting a USB stick be work had failed. Now I have asked claude about this and the reply was the USB stack isn't on the repo for this build so I said if it's not there then lets write a new USB stack so both the touch screen and a USB stick can be used for data collection and import. It's reply was yes this can be done so just say the word Got to head down the hill today as my brother-in-law is coming over from the east to deliver a 50 gram pack of Port Royal as this isn't available in this country anymore due to the arcane govt reg's. Ok half an hour with claude V0.16 now has PR is live: UKTailwind/micropython#1. Let me update the memory on this fork so a future session knows to check on it. Saved a memory Done. Summary of what happened: Investigated the actual firmware source — found it lives on a pico-computer-3 branch of UKTailwind/micropython (not master), with a fully custom USB host stack already built for keyboard/mouse/gamepad/touch/serial. Found the exact gap: TinyUSB's mass-storage host class (CFG_TUH_MSC) was never enabled, even though the vendored TinyUSB already ships it. Wrote the patch: machine.USBDrive (a vfs.VfsFat-mountable block device, structured like the existing machine.SDCard) plus pcusb.py to auto-mount it at /usb, following the codebase's own conventions throughout. Opened it: UKTailwind/micropython#1, from a fork at Bryan1club/micropython. One honest caveat, called out in the PR itself: it's checked carefully by inspection against the pinned TinyUSB version, but not compiled or hardware-tested — there's no ARM toolchain on this machine. If UKTailwind merges it (or asks for changes) and it lands in a release, club.py would then read a USB stick via /usb/... exactly like it does /sd/... today, no further firmware work needed on your end. Ok I have claude making a new .uf with the fork to using a USB stick in club.py which will go on my github site and got told as it's going to take some time I will have to wait until I get back from town. So one very interesting day indeed where claude has downloaded all the tools to make the .uf on this computer |

Well my daughters boyfriend is coming over on Sunday to set my shed up with wifi and network so a pico3 is going to be the newer server where it controls the network so in the morning a USB to network dongle will be bought so with those computers with no wifi and only network can be controlled by the pico3. So a shutdown command will be easy to do from a in/out switch so when I;m finished in the shed they can be turned off.\ From what I described to Sam tonight he is blown away and thinks I may have a job in the teaching department. Anyway it is a fun journey and it does look like I'm the only doing micro-python where personally it just rocks. My end goal is to use old dumped laptops so they have a new life doing the job but thats next week. Peter please have a look at my firmware as BT connects with just hitting the pair button on the flip 6 so a good ol' jukebox is there. Regards Bryan |
